The Resiliency of Filipinos

Resiliency is a trait that has been attributed many times to Filipinos. Having resiliency means that you are able to recover quickly from loss. Filipinos have shown this trait time and again. This is why I am proud to call myself a Filipino.

Filipinos have faced many challenges in the past. We have faced oppression, wars, natural disasters and many more. Despite this, the Filipino people faced these challenges with courage. The Filipinos' spirit stayed strong and because of this we were able to overcome all of these challenges. We were able to free ourselves from oppression, win wars, and recover from natural disasters and many more. One of the reasons the Filipinos have remained resilient is because we are helpful to the Filipinos that have experienced a tragedy. When we see that our fellow Filipinos are in trouble we immediately try to help them. Because of our kindness to each other we are able to recover from disaster quickly and overcome any challenges that we may face.

We face a lot a disasters every year from natural disasters like storms, floods and earthquakes to man made disasters like terrorism and shortages. Despite this the Filipino has been able to remain vigilant and courageous. No matter what challenges that we may face, the Filipino people will always remain strong and resilient.

Reflections

Exams are very close and with it the end of the first quarter. A lot has happened during the last quarter. A whole quarter has gone by and I ask myself about what I learned, what are the things that I have done this quarter and many more.

There are a lot of things that I learned during this first quarter like formulas for voltage, the parts of a research paper, the Greek gods and goddesses, arithmetic sequencing, and a lot more. All these topics have piqued my interest and I was able to learn things that I could use in my everyday life. During the first quarter, I faced many challenges and sometimes I felt like giving up. Tight deadlines, tough quizzes, and many more. However, these challenges made me realize the flaws that I had because many of the challenges that I faced were created by my actions and decisions. I was able to overcome these challenges by recognizing these flaws and addressing them. Moving on I will try my best to have a better grade next quarter which I can achieve by working hard and by focusing in my studies.

As I answer these questions I start to realize that there are a lot of things that I did in the first quarter which I regret. Because of this I have promised myself to do my best to excel in my classes. I hope that the next quarter will be better than the first.

6. What could be the implications of this finding to existing teaching practices especially those that are related with the use of ICT in learning?
Using the Hole in the Wall setup with a single PC, children can learn to do most or all of the following tasks in approximately three months:  1. basic computer navigation functions, such as click, drag, open, close, resize, minimize and menu selection 2. drawing and painting pictures on the computer         3. loading and saving files       4. downloading and playing games              5. running educational software and other programs  6. playing music and videos, and viewing photos and pictures    7. surfing the Internet, if a broadband connection is available
8. setting up email accounts
9. sending and receiving email
10. using social networking programs, such as chat rooms (AIM, Google Chat, etc.), Skype and Facebook
11. simple troubleshooting, such as fixing speakers that aren't playing sound
12. downloading and playing streaming media
In addition, local teachers and field observers noted that the children demonstrated improvements in enrollment, attendance and performance on school examinations, particularly in subjects that deal with computing skills; English vocabulary and usage; concentration, attention span and problem-solving skills; and working cooperatively and self-regulation. Results, which are discussed in the paper, show that groups of children can leam to use computers and the Internet on their own, irrespective of who or where they are..

The State of the Nation Address 2018

Duterte made his S.O.N.A. in July 23, 2018. His S.O.N.A. addressed the many issues that affects this country like his war on drugs, the West Philippine Sea, the Bangsamoro organic law and many more. His S.O.N.A. also stated how he would address this problems.

During his S.O.N.A one he promised that he would continue his war on drugs with the same vigor as the first day of his drug war. This poses a problem because the war on drugs has cost the Philippines a lot of lives and if he continues it more lives will be taken. Duterte also said that his concern is human lives yet this war takes it away. Another issue he addressed was the corruption that makes the progression of the Philippines slow. He addressed this issue by passing on a law known as The Ease of Doing Business Act. I approve of this action because it makes the Philippines a competitive country and helps in fighting corruption. It also makes the government services more accessible to people which is always a good thing. Another major point that he made in his S.O.N.A. was the Bangsamoro Organic Law.  I agree with his statements because just has recently been through a war and it is still feeling the effects of the war. This law will help preserve the peace in Mindanao and avoid another potential war. Another major point that he bring up was the issue of the West Philippine Sea and I agree with the actions that Duterte has done in order to resolve this issue.  We should resolve this issue peacefully by having talks with China but I feel that the government should do more whenever China violates the West Philippine Sea. Another Issue that he addressed was contractualization and how he was planning to end it. I believe that it would be wrong to abolish contractualization because it allows businesses to increase their output for short time and is very useful to business because it allows them to compensate for increased demands whenever a product’s demand rises in a certain time of a year. I believe that instead of ending contractualization the government should focus on enforcing laws which prevents the abuse that workers experience because of contractualization. Another major point that he brung up was the formation of the Department of Disaster Management which I approve of because it would help us with the natural disasters that comes to the Philippines which happens a lot.

Duterte’s S.O.N.A. gave us an insight into the problems that he has to address and how he would solve these problems. I believe that he will be able to guide this country to a better state and even though I don’t agree with him in issues I still support his presidency. I am looking forward to what this country will become after the presidency of Duterte is finished.

Benefits of planting

This July we are celebrating the Nutrisyon month. The goal of this celebration is to encourage people to start living a healthy life through exercise and eating food that is filled with nutrients. This celebration also has a lot of events like the food fest, nutri-jingle and a lot more which makes the celebration a joyous event. Each year the Nutrisiyon month has a theme which helps address the bigger problems that we are facing and the theme of this year nutrisyon month is “Ugaliing mag tanim, sapat na nutrisyon ay aanihin”.

Now you might be thinking “Why should I start farming and why would it help me become a healthier person?” well it’s because there are a lot of benefits that comes with planting your own vegetable and while it may take time, hard work and patience the outcome is worth it. One of the benefits of planting is that it will give you access to cheap vegetables. Because of this it helps promote a healthy life style without you needing to worry about the costs. You can even make a business out of this.  Another benefit of this is that it is very cheap to set up in your backyard. All you need is some packet of seeds, ground, and water and you’re ready to go planting your own vegetables. Just remember to water it every day and it’ll be fine.

There are a lot of benefits that you can reap (see what I did there?) if you start your own vegetables. This helps address the rising prices of vegetables. Planting your own vegetables will help you maintain a healthy lifestyle and can teach you a new skill.
